In Argentina, Applus+ has been licensed to operate and review the service of taxis and commercial vehicles in the city of Buenos Aires. The company will manage this activity with a service station that expects to serve a total of 40,000 taxis and commercial vehicles registered in the city.
In addition, the company will take care of RUTAX, Argentina’s taxi register, as well as the issuance of licenses, issuance of original vehicle documentation, transfers, registrations or renewals, changes to taximeters and suspensions, helping owners and drivers to manage their taxi licences.
In Ecuador, Applus + expands its presence with two new concession contracts by Portovial EP, the mobility and transport company in the municipalities of Portoviejo and Babahoyo. These stations, which the company will begin operating soon, have the operational capacity to serve 200,000 vehicles per year.
In addition, through its Riteve brand in Costa Rica, Applus+ has acquired and equipped two new mobile on-the-road statutory vehicle inspection units, a project that is part of the National Transportation Plan promoted by the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation of Costa Rica, with which the company collaborates. The objective of this initiative is to improve road safety and reduce polluting emissions in the region.
Aitor Retes Aguado, Executive Vice President of the Automotive Division: "these projects consolidate our position as one of the leaders in statutory vehicle inspection in the region. Latin America is a strategic market that has a lot to offer the Group due to its great potential as well as the accumulated experience in the different business lines. From the Automotive Division we want to continue our commitment to this geography.”
